The Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has applauded the appointment of the founder of Saliu Mustapha Foundation, Mallam Saliu Mustapha, as new Turaki of Ilorin Emirate.
The council also hailed the choice of Dr Muhammad Alimi AbdulRazaq as Mutawalle of Ilorin as well as Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje (Tafida of Ilorin), Waziri Yakubu Gobir (Dawaki of Ilorin), Alhaji Saka Onimago (Shetimma of Ilorin) and Alhaji Kawu Agaka (Dan Iya of Ilorin) among others.
A statement issued in Ilorin by the Chairman and Secretary of the state council of NUJ, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed and Omotayo Ayanda respectively, commended the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, for finding the new title holders worthy of the appointment.
The NUJ said the appointment of the illustrious sons of the Ilorin Emirate couldn’t have come at a better time than now with their antecedent and contribution to the growth and development of the ancient city of Ilorin.
The union noted that the appointees have proven themselves in their individual areas of endeavour as great ambassadors of Ilorin, thus stimulating the passion of the younger generation of the Ilorin Emirate to also aim higher in life legitimately.
The state NUJ particularly showered praises on the new Turaki of Ilorin for his philanthropic gesture through Saliu Mustapha Foundation, saying that he has substantially helped to raise a number of future leaders and entrepreneurs.
The union observed that the choice of Saliu Mustapha for the covetous title may be a pay back time for some of his selfless service to humanity and for projecting the Ilorin Emirate to the outside world.
The statement partly read, “At Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, we received with profound joy the choice of the recipients of the new titles in the Ilorin Emirate. We are not too surprised at the decision that led to the choice of the appointees; they are individuals with good track records.
“We have watched with keen interest the contributions of each of them aimed at advancing the cause of Ilorin Emirate. In their individual capacity and fields of endeavour, they have helped to stimulate the interest and passion of the younger generation in the Emirate that the future is bright for them.
“In view of the development, the state council NUJ is delighted with the decision of the Emir of Ilorin, Mai Martaba, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, to single out the new appointees for the covetous titles. It is our hope and prayer that the title holders would consolidate on their track records and further serve humanity, which apparently informed their choice”.
