The National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Chief Chris Isiguzo has encouraged the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) and other women in Africa to lead the emancipation struggle themselves.
Isiguzo stated this in his congratulatory message to NAWOJ and other women groups in the country on the occasion of 2020 International Women’s Day Celebration.
According to the NUJ boss, women have really worked so hard to be considered equal in our society somewhat dominated by men.
“This year’s celebration themed #GenerationEquality is unique as it marks the celebration of this struggle for economic, social, cultural and political equality.
“As you celebrate, don’t let anyone diminish your uniqueness or make you feel inferior in anyway”, he said.
Isiguzo said further that the world would mean nothing without a woman or a girl, because women are stronger than anyone can imagine.
Isiguzo said: “like former South African President, Nelson Mandela famously said: “Freedom cannot be achieved unless the women have been emancipated from all forms of oppression.” I totally agree with those words and wish to add that women themselves should lead the emancipation struggle themselves.”
“Happy Women’s Day Celebration and remember, your freedom begins with YOU,” he added.
