Arrangements have been concluded by the Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), to hold its 2020 Press Week programmes between Monday 23rd and Saturday 28th November, 2020.
According to a statement jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Union, Mall. Umar Abdulwahab and Deacon Omotayo Ayanda respectively, the Press Week will be declared open on Monday 23rd by the Hon. Commissioner for Communication, Mrs. Adenike Harriet Afolabi-Oshatimehin.
The statement said that activities lined up for the week-long event include Inter-Table Tennis Competition, Inauguration of Anti-Quackery Committee, Capacity Building Workshop, Medical Talk/Free Test and Dinner/Award Night among others.
The statement added that: “the press week is an annual event for Journalists in Kwara State. The activities for the week is put together to enable us take out time and fraternize with one another.
“For this year, we are starting activities on Monday with opening Ceremony. This will be followed by an Inauguration of Anti-Quackery Committee at the Press Centre, No. 28, Offa Road, Ilorin by 11:00 a.m.
“On Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th, there will be Kwara NUJ/Jona Kolo Inter-Chapel Table Tennis Competition beginning from 11:00am.
“On Thursday 26th, there will also be Kwara NUJ/Hon Yakubu Danladi Salihu Capacity Building Workshop for Journalists at Press Centre by 11:00am.
“On Friday 27th, a Free Medical Test and Health Talk will be held at the same venue and time.
“Meanwhile, a get-to-gather and Award Night to wrap up the week has been scheduled for Saturday 28th November 2020 at the Press Centre by 4:00pm,” the statement said.
The statement, however, advised members of NUJ in the state to participate actively in all the programmes and make the event a memorable one.
