The national body of Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria has insisted that the October 15 delegates conference that produces Comrade Muritala Saheed Olayinka led executives remained sacrosanct and constitutional.
It however warmed impostors parading themselves as caretaker committee members of executive of the union to retrace their steps or face wrath of the law.
This was contained in a statement signed by the national Vice President of the union, Adebisi Oluwafemi on behalf of the national President, Biobelemoye Joy Josiah, copy of which was made available to Journalists in Ilorin Tuesday.
The union asked the Kwara State Government and general public to disregard those parading themselves as caretaker committee of the union apart from the Olayinka led executives duly inaugurated by the national body of the union.
It also asked security agencies to “be on the alert and arrest” any person or group of persons plotting to “hijack” the union for their selfish interests.
The statement reads in parts, “the attention of national secretariat of Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria has been drawn to some people masquerading themselves as caretaker members of the executives of Kwara State Council.
“The union view with dismay, the unruly behaviour of these crop of people as their action contravenes the Constitution of of Medical and Health Workers’ Union of Nigeria and any known labour law.
“We also wish to inform the Kwara State Government, all security agencies, members of our great union and the general public that a state delegates’ conference was held on 15th October, 2019 and substantive state executive council members under the leadership of Comrade Muritala Saheed Olayinka were elected and sworn-in on 5th November, 2019 to hold office for four years”, the statement added.
