NUJ lifts ban on union activities

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) National Secretariat has lifted ban on activities of the Union.

This was made known in an Internal Memo dated May 12, 2020 signed by the National Secretary of the Union, Shuaibu Usman Leman and addressed to all the 36 Councils and the FCT.

According to the Memo, “recall that the National Secretariat had on March 20, 2020 directed that Congresses at State and Chapel levels be suspended till further notice because of the effects of the novel Coronavirus pandemic.

“With the ease of the lockdown by the government, we’ve also considered it needful to review the directive.

“Accordingly, Councils are directed to resume activities but with strict adherence to guidelines from the Federal Ministry of Health, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and other relevant agencies.

“Be also reminded that any  gathering  exceeding 20 persons is not allowed while members must maintain Social/Physical Distancing and high personal hygiene within this period”.
