The Omupo citizens, under the auspices of its umbrella national body, Omupo Descendants Union (ODU), has executed a comprehensive relief package to compliment government’s effort to cushion the effect of the lockdown arising from the covid-19 pandemic on its people.
Omupo COVID-19 committee distributes palliatives to 500 residents
According to a press release signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the Union, Mustafa Abubakar, food items such as rice and garri were procured by the Palliatives Committees with part of the money realized from the OMUPO COVID-19 RELIEF FUND, which was established with the approval of the Olomu of Omupo, HRH Oba Yakubu Adebayo Buari (Ilufemiloye II).
Disbursing the foodstuffs to the residents of the town at the palace of the Olomu of Omupo, the Chairman of the Omupo COVID-19 Palliative Committee, Alhaji Abdulkareem Ishola, said that the gesture is the first step in the categories of opportunities the Omupo Descendants Union (ODU) is putting together as palliatives to assist all residents in the town.
Alhaji Ishola, who was represented by the Chiarman of the Union in Omupo, Alhaji Hassan Issa Toyin, while thanking the recipients for accepting the little they can provide, urged them to stay home, stay safe, observe all health protective steps and most importantly pray for the town, the state and the nation.
He said, “This palliatives is made possible with the donations by benevolent indigenes of the town and their friends, who thought it necessary to assist their brothers and sisters who were obviously in need of support to curtail the challenges of the prevailing pandemic and the attendant lockdown of economic and social activities”.
While commenting, the National President of ODU, Dr. Monisoye Sola Afolabi , disclosed that “following a suggestion, which was subsequently endorsed by HRH, the Olomu of
Omupo Land, the OMUPO COVID-19 RELIEF FUND was established to provide palliatives for our people resident in Omupo.
