A gang of armed robbers allegedly dressed in police uniform have burgled two Automated Teller Machines (ATM) located at the front of Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority Ilorin carting away undisclosed amount of money.
It was gathered that the suspected armed robbers disguised like police men and gained entrance into the premises of the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority around 2 am on Saturday, where they pointed guns at the three security men on guard.
One of the security guards who narrated their ordeals said the armed robbers tied them with their hands to their back and ordered them to face the ground at gun point while the operation lasted.
The source narrated further that other security guards watching some shops close to the agency and another guard engaged by a filing station near the agency, were also abducted at gun point and taken to the agency’s premises to join the three guards already tied down.
“They pointed guns at us, ordered us to face ground, warning us not to try to play any prank. Two other security guards were also brought and tied down while they carry out their operation”, the source said.
It was gathered that a distress call to police men around 5am was swiftly responded to but the robbers had escaped with the looted money.
