University Don tasks government on youth entrepreneurial skill

Government at all levels have been urged to organise a national orientation to enlighten the youths on the need to acquire entrepreneurial skills to become self- reliant.

A lecturer from centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ilorin, Dr Biola Adimula made that call while speaking at an Empowerment programme for students organised by the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) in Ilorin.

According to her the youths should be encouraged to acquire entrepreneurship skills in addition to their academic qualification.

Dr Adimula said entrepreneurship cooperative should be created in institutions of higher learning to enable students access loans to start up a business after graduation.

She urged Non-governmental organisation to support government in providing genuine and practical based entrepreneurship skills for the youths in the country.

Dr Adimula advised the youths to get themselves trained in handiwork to make their future brighter.

In his address the sponsor of the Empowerment for students, Sunday Babalola represented by Pastor David Ajiboye urged the beneficiaries to quickly get adapted to the new changes in the society and work toward being self reliant.

In a remark the NANS Senate President Gambo Muhammed expressed delight with the entrepreneurship skills introduced by the association to take the youths away from the streets.

Earlier in his address the Chairman Joint Campus Committee of NANS in Kwara State, Comrade Adebayo Saheed-Olosasa appealed to the students not to sell the tools given to them, adding that they should use them for the purpose they are meant for to make their lives better.
