World Press Freedom Day: Kwara NUJ partners Coin Media Guide on virtual workshop 

The Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in partnership with Coin Media Guide and RUDN University, Russia will hold a 3-day  virtual workshop, as part of activities to commemorate the year 2020 World Press Freedom Day.

The workshop which is slated for May 12, 14 and 16 is themed ‘Combating Media Infodemic’.

According to the organiser, zoom platform will be used for the workshop.

Professionals and academia in communication and journalism are expected to help in advance the skills of participants in digital media literacy, reporting, and how to curtail the evil of fake news and other elements of information disorder.

Certificate will also be issued to the participants at the end of the workshop.

*Day 1: (12th May 2020) – 2 hour : 4: 00 – 6:00 PM GMT+1

– Launching of COIN Media Guide 2020

Keynote by Prof. AGAS ON the theme “ Combating Media Infodemic”

– A workshop on practising professional journalism in the era of media proliferation and informational pollution. By Dr. L.K Mustapha (University of Ilorin)

*Day 2 (14th May 2020) – 2 hour : 4: 00 – 6:00 PM GMT+1

– Experience sharing open panel by young journalists form some African countries (Nigeria, Ghana, Bennin, Liberia) on “Practising journalism in Africa in the era of Information pollution: challenges and some possible ways out.

*Day 3 (16th May 2020 ) – 2 hour : 4: 00 – 6:00 PM GMT+1

– Workshop on Combating information disorder: identifying fake news by
