Secretariat Report for the Month of August, 2020

Glory, honour and adoration be unto God Almighty for His grace and for making us to witness another congress in this month of August, 2020.

Below are the highlights of some of the major activities of the Council from the month of February, 2020 till date.

  1. The State Council received the National President of NUJ, Chief Chris Isiguzo and his team who were on a two-day working visit to Kwara State between 16 and 18 February, 2020.
  2. The Kwara State Council completed the membership Data Update with a huge success.
  3. The Council inaugurated the new Executive members of the Herald and Kwara TV Chapels on Tuesday 17, 2020, where Jimoh Bashir emerged as Chairman and the incumbent Chairman of the Kwara TV Chapel, Hajia Fatima Rasheed returned unopposed respectively.
  4. The Council in collaboration with the Novel Association for Youth Advocacy held Media Briefing on Implementation and Youth Friendly Health Services in Kwara State on 3rd February, 2020.
  5. Likewise, the council in collaboration with Worthy Life Education and Health Foundation held a day Media Engagement as part of activities for this year World Kidney Day on 12th of March, 2020.
  6. The Council also took part in a day Multi-Stakeholder Security Dialogue towards strengthening the Security Architecture in Kwara State organised by the Kwara State Government on 13th February, 2020.
  7. The Council also participated in Nigeria Youth Walk against Corruption jointly organised by EFCC and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on February 14, 2020.
  8. We also held the first ever virtual lecture in collaboration with Goldrush Online Services on 22nd July 2020 with the theme: ‘COVID-19: Mitigating the Effects on media Practitioners’.
  9. The Council was duly represented during the burial rites of a senior colleague, Wahab Gbadamasi. It is our prayer that Allah will be with the family the deceased left behind.
  10. This Administration under the leadership of Mall. Umar Abdulwahab will continue to count on your support at all time. Thanks.
