SECRETARIAT REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER, 2018

We give thanks to God Almighty for how far He has help us since the inception of Mallam Umar Abdulwahab led administration from July 4, 2018 to date and for given us the opportunity to witness the last Congress in this year 2018. Praise be unto His holy name forever. It is our prayer that we shall all be alive comes year 2019 to celebrate together a great transformation of our union. Amen,

Fellow congressmen, below are the highlights of major activities of the council between the month of November and December, 2018.

  1. NUJ Bio-Metric and Data Capturing: By the special grace of God, this administration successfully hosted the Bio-Metrics and Data Capturing team from the National Secretariat of the Union between the 16th and 19th of November, 2018. Large number of our members partook in the ongoing exercise.

Therefore, in the course of this congress the NUJ National Membership Identity Cards would be distributed to those who had participated in the process.

  1. Yusuf-O-Ali Media Roundtable: The State Council of the NUJ in Collaboration with the Time Nigeria Magazine and Africa Media Congress held 3rd Yusuf-O-Ali Media Roundtable, a distinguished annual public affairs interactive lecture series in honour of Mallam Yusuf Olaolu Ali (SAN) on the 5th of December 2, 2018. The theme of this year edition was Nigeria 2019 General Election: The Courage to face the truth.
  2. Seminar: The NUJ in collaboration with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) organized a day Seminar on the Journalists and Ethics of Election Coverage and Reportage on the 12th of December, 2018 at the Press Centre, Ilorin.

The Seminar paper which was delivered by a Veteran Journalist, Mr. Femi Mapaderun from Impact Radio, Ibadan, Oyo State, was well attended by members and other stakeholders.

  1. Courtesy Visit: During the month under review, the State Working Committee (SWC) paid courtesy visits to the Honourable Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development and The Provost of Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin.

Likewise, the SWC received the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone C, the umbrella body of Nigeria Students with the North Central and North Eastern State of Nigeria.
