SECRETARIAT REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY, 2019

Glory, honour and adoration be unto God Almighty for His grace and how He helped us throughout last year. We equally appreciate Him for given us the opportunity to witness the first Congress in this year 2019.

Congress in session, below are the highlights of major activities of the Council fromthe month of January 2019 to date.

  1. NUJ MODEL SCHOOL: We are glad to inform you that that the SWC has reached the final stage for the approval of the NUJ Model School by the state government. The inspection teams from both the Ministries of Education and Health have come and they were satisfied with the facilities on ground. The Council have acquired every necessary material that could made the school have a smooth take-off, except for the prescribed payment of N150,000 for the issuance of the government approved certificate. Presently, we are working on the school badge and uniform.
  2. IIJ: Also, academic session has commenced at the IIJ, Kwara State Campus here at Press Centre premises, Ilorin. As at today, we have 12 PGD students in both Public Relations/Advertising and Journalism classes. Please, take note that admission into various courses of the Institute is still ongoing.
  3. NEC MEETING: The Kwara State Council Chairman and Secretary attended the NEC meeting of the union between 24th and 26th of January, 2019 at Abuja, where issues affecting the profession were discussed. In the course of this congress we shall hear the brief from the meeting.
